Teacher Week (the delayed edition!): Technology Tip Tuesday

It's Tuesday of my "delayed edition" of Teacher Week... so that means Technology Tip Tuesday!!  I LOOOOOVE using technology in the classroom, so it was tough picking out just one thing to share.

I absolutely LOVE VolunteerSpot.com!
If you haven't seen it before, you need to check it out!  First of all, it's FREE--which makes it a winner already!!!  You're able to select items you'd like volunteers to bring and/or tasks you'd like volunteers to do.

When parents sign on to the site, it's like a gift registry--where the number of items or volunteers decreases as people sign up (so they can see exactly where help is needed).--here's a sample.

VolunteerSpot allows you to email your class families when you need volunteers/items donated... AND it sends them an instant email reminder when they sign up PLUS another reminder a few days before the requested date!!  I "signed up" to volunteer for the AM... here's the email I received to confirm:

It is so organized and EASY to use!!  In fact, after I mentioned finding it online to my school's PTO, they used it for all their events last year.  Our Art teacher also used it for Family Art Night to get volunteers and supplies.  SUPER EASY!! Let me know if you check it out... my class families loved it last year and I plan on using it again this year!

Hop over to Blog Hoppin' and link up--if you haven't already!

Teacher Week (the delayed edition!): Must-Haves Monday

Yes, I know I am 2 weeks late... but I really just wanted to give you another chance to see all the AMAZING posts from Blog Hoppin's Teacher Week!!  (I know you see right through me, but it was worth a try, right!?)

My top 3 must haves for this year are:
1.  iPod... loaded with songs for school!!  Gotta love Jack Hartmann, Steven Fite, Heidi Songs, Shari Sloane, Dr. Jean, etc, etc.
2.  Scotch laminator (for at home)... LOVE the nice, thick laminate!
3.  Planbook.com... I'm super excited to have found this site this summer.  I love how you can color code your plans, quickly look for state standards, "bump" a lesson to the next day, etc.

If you missed linking up the first time around... there's no time like the present!!  (I promise I won't tell that you were late to the party too!)

SO EXCITED for our first day of school tomorrow!  I have a fabulous group of 24 kiddos and the most amazing assistant a girl could ask for... happy 1st day to everyone starting after Labor Day like us!!
